The muscle spasm is in full effect as pressing F5 for the last few hours has finally paid off, the first glimpse of Crusader Industries Ares StarFighter has been shown. What many figure is going to be an addition to the heavy fighter lineup and a possible direct competitor to the Vanguard Series. As a Aegis fanboy and more recently a pure Vanguard Sentinel fan, this news excites me to say the least.
First, the officially leaked image thanks to CIG;
With it’s seemingly leaked design, this is proving to be right out of the Crusader build design. Though the image is only partial, there is a couple of notable things to look at.
The Gun: How many hardpoints the ship has is unknown but there is a largish size gun visible in the picture. The majority of people are guessing it is between a size 4-5 weapon, though it would also appear it is a fixed. If in fact it turns out to be fixed, it wont address the main problem with the Vanguard series.
The Hull: Although it cant be confirmed how large the cockpit is, with first impressions it gives off the feeling that the hull isn’t going to be large enough for cargo. However if it is under the heavy fighter tag, it should at least come with a bed/s, kitchen and a bathroom of some kind.
Tomorrow is the day we find out more and when/how we can purchase it. If it is like any previous sales, new money will only be accepted for the first wave and then the option to CCU would follow soon after.
