The morning started like any other morning does, the air stale with a musky feel and faint sound of a warning alarm just outside my door. The warning sound was a reminder that the quality of air in the city was currently hazardous and to make sure we suit up before we leave our personal habs.
Thankfully each room is well equipped to purify and enrich the oxygen inside the Habs, because sleeping in your suit isn’t comfortable to say the least.

With sleep still in my eyes, I reach over the side of my bed and grab the closest clothes I can. “Looks like today is a Aegis day” I mutter under my breath… but then again, when isn’t it.
Dragging my feet I begin my morning routine and make a fresh pot of Hurstons finest coffee. I got to tell my buddy Mack I need some more the next time I see him, you see his family has been producing the local coffee for the last 233 years. From generation to generation the recipe has been passed down and the coffee is locally grown in a hydro farm on Hurston.

Looking down into my near empty coffee mug I see a faint reflection of myself starting back at me as I take the last gulp.
“Time to suit up and see what the boss has in store for me today”.
Suiting up, my rifle sits in the corner as I go to pick it up. Recently just had the rifle serviced, which isn’t always needed for my job but when it is you better know the dam thing works. Lets just hope today the trigger doesn’t need to be pulled.

After a few moments staring into the mirror and contemplating the day, I Head out of my hab and walk out into the floors community area. Glancing around from right to left, I see some of my neighbors at the vending machines just down the hall. Walking past them, neither of them seem to care about the alarms warning us about the air quality.
While passing by I ask, “Are you worried about the air, the alarms have been going off for an hour at least”.
They just turn there heads towards me and stare, not a word from their lips and to be honest, it almost seemed as they weren’t breathing either.
I think to myself, “better them than me“.

I get a call over my headset which snaps me back to reality, looking down on my wrist comm I see that it’s my boss calling. After a quick eye roll I’m quick to answer, my boss tells me there is a special package on a nearby moon I needed to pickup. During the call he mentions we have a client willing to spend a lot of UEC to become the regions biggest buyer, the cost of living on the other side of Hurston.
Barely mustering a smirk, it is just enough to satisfy the boss as he closed the call with his usual, “Good Luck and Don’t Fuck This Up”, *click*.
Let’s get this over with… I miss war… I miss the old days…
“I miss the death” I shout.
Thankfully no one is around to hear.

Without a second thought I use the Lorevile valet service to get my ship, or at least what they pretend to be. Usually some pretty advertisements, but in reality its just some punk ass kid going through your ships ashtray as they scrounge for riches and put another dent into the side.“Loreviles finest…”
Pad 7 on the terminal, showing me where my ship will be waiting for me.
Lucky number 7.
Once the elevator doors open and I step out onto pad 7 I see such a beautiful sight, my ship in all her glory. The LED lights and shadows complimenting the ships design, the colors standing out with personality.

Walking underneath I begin to do my routine check-ups under and around the outside of the ship. Walking up the ramp, I begin running some system checks. Next hoping into the pilots seat, Flight Ready and she purr’s.
All systems were a go.

Leaving Hurstons atmosphere and Lorevile out of sight I make a quick jump to the moon Magda. Being greeted with a beautiful sight, as you see Magda was named after Magda Hurston.
Who was Magda Hurston?, well she was the Hurston CEO who purchased Stanton I from the UEE. Currently her son is the CEO of Hurston, Gavin Hurston. Though, he is a total psychopath and utter jackass to be honest.

Nearing the destination I bring myself out of a daydream, or a nightmare, depends on your perspective I suppose.
It was almost game time.

Breaking into Magdas atmosphere, the pickup destination was quickly found using my on board scanners. Getting a mission update over my ships intercom, and message from my boss. It appears the package was previously on route to the destination until local pirates attacked and downed the previous ship.
“Pirates…“, I grumble.
Doing a quick flyby, it appears the area is clear. Nothing being picked up on the scanners. Finding a landing spot was easy with the previous transport ship in utter disarray. Damage like this only appears if the ship lost full power before it entered the moons atmosphere. Something big took this ship out, the velocity must have taken the ship straight into the moon.
I couldn’t take any risks, I had to be quick.

Scavenging through the ruble, the tracking notification grows louder. After what felt like an eternity the package was found. Talk about luck, the package was in perfect condition thanks to the specialized container.
If only the crashed ship was built in the same fashion.
“Those poor bastards” I whisper.

Nearly out of breath and safely back aboard my ship with the package secured, I got a destination ping sent to my ship. This packages tracking beacon was unlike any I had experienced before. This must be something really important, seeds, but for what?
Sitting back down into the pilots seat and all systems green, Flight Ready. I begin to head back up through Magdas atmosphere, looking back and seeing the red glow from the crash site fade into the background, into the cold depths of space.

The latest coordinates show its back on Hurston, just a quick QT jump and I’m back. A warm feeling of being back on my home planet rushed my senses. No matter how shitty it may seem, home is home.
For now.
Glancing over my ships sensors and verifying no closer jump points would take me closer to the final destination, I begin to take the long journey to the other side of the planet.

While auto pilot takes control, below I watch the scenery pass by as I slip into a deep sleep.

After what must have been a few hours a loud beeping woke me up.
“I’m sure thankful for automated systems” I grumble as I wipe the sleep from my eyes.
The hydro farm shows up over my ships map hud, the final destination for this special package of seeds. Getting nearer the location comes into eyesight and I notice it looks abandoned if anything.
Great…
Upon landing I’m quick to grab the box and jog over to the admin building which had a spooky feel about it. It feels just like the crash site back on Magdas.

Running up the service ramp I get inside, hearing the doors slide close behind me. Looking around the room I see the standard drop off box, barley running. Slamming the drop off machine, it springs to life with the receiving bay door opens and place down the package full off unknown seeds. Scanned, the package is accepted and a personal message is sent to my suits comms further confirming…
Mission Completed
Quickly back in the comfort of my ship, the spookiness of the farm couldn’t be shaken off, something just wasn’t right. Lets get out of here. I glanced over to make sure the ship doors were fully locked and ran a security systems check. Holding my breath.
…….
I let out a deep gasp of relief, systems show I’m the only lifeform on board. With the hairs still standing up on my neck and all systems checked once more, I takeoff. Quickly ascending, the ship is pointed skyward.
Huston oxygen is starting to make me paranoid.

With me safely back in space, I go back into the hull of my ship.
It also appears there was an extra package left back at the wreckage I forgot to mention to my boss.
“Oops..” I whisper

With slight of hand, I send out a encrypted message to a few business associates. It shouldn’t be long until I get some offers and then drop off destination.
The offers should take long to come in fast, but until then it’s time to take a brief nap and dream of a better life.
